By Jerry Adesewo

THE former National Public Relations Officer (North) of the Association of the Nigerian Authors (ANA), Odoh Diego Okenyodo will be the next Guest Writer at ANA Abuja's monthly Special Guest Writer's Reading Session with his newly released collection of poems titled From a Poet to its Creator.

The book is a collection of delicate poems centered on Okenyodo's craft, religion, philosophy, love, and the state of the Nigerian nation. It circles around problems of relationships; the poet and the muse, the poet and his changing world, and the poet in vulnerable relationships that form amongst friends in ethno-religious divides and other matters that have engaged his mind.

Odoh Diego Okenyodo is a poet, journalist, rights activist, and public affairs consultant. He is head of the Abuja office of CMC Connect (Perception Managers). For Odoh, writing is one of many forms of expressing artistic inspirations. He writes songs, fiction for children, and radio drama.

In 2006, Okenyodo co-edited the landmark collection of Nigerian writings under the title "Camouflage". Prior to that in 2005, he also led the editorial team for the Kaduna writers' collection titled "After the Curfew". His works have been published in many anthologies.

Though trained as a pharmacist, he has worked for several organisations as editorial and media relations consultant. He was pioneer Media Co-ordinator of the Alliance for Credible Elections; Senior Programme Officer (Information and Publications), Centre for Democracy and Development; editor of Bookshelf, the literary pages in the Weekly Trust, etc.

Okenyodo has held the positions of National Publicity Secretary, Association of Nigerian Authors; Chairman of the Kaduna Writers' League; and Caretaker Chairman of the Creative Writers' Club, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. He was editor of several campus magazines, including the pharmacy students' PharmSatellite and the general-interest campus publication, The Parrot.

The book of poems, "From a Poem to Its Creator", will be launched on the day after June 12, 2009 in Abuja.

Writers that had featured in the Guest Writer' Session in the last two years included Bello Musa Dankano, Dull Johnson, Ahmed Maiwada, and Denja Abdullahi.
